Let me be honest; this newsletter is kind of a filler newsletter. I’m trying to get to a weekly consistency as I’m working on multiple projects and a newsletter makes so much sense when it comes to sharing information. But this week is an editing week, like, knee deep kind of editing. The kind of editing where the 1,000 images you’re trying to squeeze onto your early 2015 MacBook Pro don't all make it through and you sit there feeling sick and Googling various solutions.
But it’s all good now. Next week I’m off deadline for about a month, which in some ways is more challenging. I get to do what I want, which is great. But, I will be the only boss, meaning there will be little urgency around what needs to get done. So I’m trying to give myself a framework to work within; make sure I head to London once a week to see things, shoot, catch up and check out what’s happening at British Beauty Week (5th-11th of September, more info here). And I also want to record minimum two podcast episodes per week and I’m trying to post five times a week on TikTok. I don’t know if I’ll make it through re that last goal, because I get concerned over quality vs quantity. Some people are brilliant at TikTok; they find their niche and they look like they really enjoy it too. Others make it look painful. I don’t want to look like that. I apologise in advance if I do. Let me know what you think of this and don’t hold back!
After taking a week off from the podcast last week, I felt compelled to come with two episodes this week. It’s a goal of mine to get to episode 200 by the end of 2022, while also improving standards each and every episode, so last night I released a surprise episode. Instead of focusing on beauty, as per, instead this episode is about the three podcasts that have nothing to do with beauty, but definitely affect how I feel. I know that how I feel can affect a multitude of things, not least what I’m thinking about how I look.
So in episode 134 I share my favourites: Jay Shetty’s On Purpose, Recho Omondi’s The Cutting Room Floor and Maintenance Phase, hosted by Aubrey Gordon and Michael Hobbes. They’re my favourites for very different reasons; On Purpose prepares me for just trying to be better at life and work; The Cutting Room Floor inspires me to create podcasts that tell stories and Maintenance Phase encourages me to trust no data! Let me know if you love these or if you think there are other non-beauty podcasts I need to check out over on Twitter or Insta. The second episode of the week will be out tomorrow. Be sure to subscribe or follow BeautyMe Podcast on Apple Podcasts or Spotify so you don’t miss it!
